In these unprecedented and uncertain times, there are always positives that we see in our communities and the people around us.
In line with many retail outlets the Methodist Book Centre in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent had to lock its front doors to customers. (It is still able to take orders over the phone 01782 212146 or via its website.)
Through closing our doors, we we were stuck at the shop with 130 Fair Trade Easter eggs plus 5 x £30 sharing boxes. Julie Ann (Manager at the Book Centre) decided to put out an appeal to the Chester & Stoke-on-Trent district to see if anyone was prepared to contact the shop to pay for an egg and she would then donate the eggs to the Foodbank and Salvation Army hostel.
In the space of just two days every single egg was sold, plus a number of boxes of teabags and jars of coffee. Julie Ann could have sold more eggs – what an eggcellent response!
Julie Ann was thrilled. The people who will receive the eggs will also be able to read the true Easter story. Praise the Lord and a huge thank you from Julie Ann.
